Topic: An interesting job

Target:

Students are able to master the words:interestingpolice artist,   draw  a  picture  of the criminal,   difficult,   describe,

Students can improve their reading skill.

Students can talk about their opinions about the job.

Key Points:

Students can master some difficult words and understand the whole passage.

Difficulty Points:

Students can understand why this job is sometimes difficult.

Teaching Procedure: 

Step 1 : Greeting

Step 2:Lead in

Show a short movie clip about the police artist. Then ask students what the man is doing and what this man’s job is to lead in the job -police artist. Then ask students to talk about something about the job.

Step 3:First reading

Students read the passage silently and answer the two questions:

1. What is Joe Brown’s job?

2. Is this job difficult?

Step 4:Second reading

Read para.1 in a group and then fill in the blanks.

 


Students read paragraph 2 together and answer the question : Why is Joe Brown                                                                                                                                          




Read para.2 together and answer the question:

Why is Joe Brown’s job sometimes difficult?

(In order to help students understand the sentence “ people don’t see things the same way so they may describe things differently”,Tr show one picture and ask students what they see. It looks like a girl or an old lady when you see in different angles.)

Then, can you give me one example? Ss work in a group to fill in the blanks.


 






Step 5:Third reading

Students stand up to read the passage again and then students fill in the blanks to complete the summary.

An interesting job

Joe Brown has a very ________    job.

   He is a police ________. But this job is sometimes _______. Many people dont see things the same way , so they may ________the same person _______________. Also, they dont always remember well.

    Sometimes one woman says, The criminal is of medium height.But ________woman says, he is short.”  In the ________, the ________criminal is tall.

Step 6: Post reading

1. What do you thinks of Joe Brown’s job?

2. Do you want to be a police artist? Why or why not?

Step 7: Group work(role play)

Two students act out a crime.

One or two students witness the crime and then go to the police station to describe the criminal. One student is the police artist. He or she draws a picture of the criminal.

亮点:

视频导入

在本节课开始,我选取符合文章情境的视频材料,幽默的视频素材让学生在愉悦的情境中对文章素材进行感性体验,让人物形象鲜活起来,紧紧抓住学生的学习兴趣,吸引学生迫不及待地展开阅读。

、创设情境,学生在体验中学习

在读后环节,设计了警察,目击证人,警察画像师,犯罪分子等多种角色,鼓励学生参与其中,“过把瘾”的成就感给了学生真实的体验,让学生对语言的感知更加深刻,也增加了学生的学习信心,让学生们更勇敢地参与到语言的学习体验中去。

不足:

1. 本节课,没有充分调动学生的积极性,课堂氛围不够热烈。

2. 小组活动过程中,学生没有真正地进行小组合作,组长没有起到引导作用。

3. 时间把握不够合理,导致最后只有两个小组进行了展示。

Cherry 老师给我们带来的是一节初中阅读课<An interesting job>,课堂一开始用憨豆先生的电影片段形象生动的诠释了本节课的重难点词汇“criminal”和“police artist”,紧接着进行fast reading等阅读 教学步骤,一步一步让学生理解并阅读文章,并通过fill in the blanks等练习检测学生对文章的理解,课堂的高潮来自学生情景化的演绎,以小组为单位进行各种犯罪现场,用幽默有趣的方式诠释“police artist is an interesting job

纵观整堂课,Cherry老师的课堂亮点如下:

1.Cherry老师整堂课思路清晰,层层递进,阅读框架清晰。

2教学设计中有有趣的心理测试图片为学生创设批判思维和创造性思维的表达空间

3.师生关系平等、融洽、默契,学生课堂专注度高,全体学生能全过程地专心参与课堂各个环节。
